WHY WALK TO DENVER

“Why?” is almost always the first response when people hear about walking to denver. It’s a logical question, really. Why would a middle aged man and his dog walk from Galveston, Texas (sea level) to the summit of Mt. Elbert (14,433 ft.), the highest point in Colorado, and then on to Denver - a journey of 1,336 miles? There is a reason - a cause, actually. The purpose is to spread the word about the problem of homelessness among teenagers in America, and the effort of a cutting-edge ministry - Dry Bones Denver (www.DryBonesDenver.org) - whose members are dedicated to serving the needs, and reclaiming the lives, of homeless and runaway teenagers living on the streets of downtown Denver.

We thank you for taking the time to visit this site. Our goal is to:

1.) Demonstrate the challenges and needs that homeless and runaway teenagers face as a result of their perception that homelessness a better or safer option for survival than the ‘home’ they are leaving;

2.) Introduce you to the ones who are dedicating their lives to helping these kids; and to the challenges and needs they face as they work to rescue and reclaim them for the street-life, alcohol, drugs, and crime;

3.) Describe specific ministry activities of Dry Bones Denver that are designed to benefit the kids and draw them closer to knowledge and relationship of their Creator of loves and cares for them; as well as other activities designed to involve and train others in the work of Dry Bones Denver, and other works attending to the needs of the downtrodden; and

4.) Present the Dry Bones Denver ministry and the walking to denver project so as to inspire compassion in those willing and able to participate through sharing of their time, talents, and/or financial support to benefit these kids.
