Weekly UPDATE 5-28-05

Dear family, friends, and fellow walkers,

This week has brought once again many exciting things. God has watched over Walker and Jeff and kept the rain in the horizon. The temperatures have come down and made their journey a lot easier. Walker is enjoying the cooler days, running and acting like the pup that he is. Sometimes landing in mischief. One day he found his first snake and really wanted to become friends. Fortunately, Jeff was there to rescue him. They are beginning to see a few more snakes now that they are out in West Texas and New Mexico. Still many new friends are coming into their lives. Jeff spoke at the Central Church of Christ outreach to the “Outdoorsmen” (as Jeff would say) of Amarillo called The Upreach Mission. The “Outdoorsmen” opened their hearts to Jeff due to his compassion for the homeless and prayed over him. It reminds me of the 12 apostles who had so little and had compassion and prayed over many during their lives. It’s amazing how there is so many connections with people he has met on the road. In Amarillo, Jeff spent quite a bit a time with Ernie, Gina Wilson’s dad. Gina has been a good friend in the Dallas area for many years. Amarillo also brought some time with our niece, Jana McKinney, and her family. Walker met another friend, but I’m not sure he was well received. Jeff was again blessed with prayers by some Harley riding Christians while having lunch with Jana and all her family. Here is the last story for this update. You never know who is going to touch your life or the other way around. While walking one day Jeff was approached by a car to give him a ride. He kindly told them “no thank you” and then shared the story of the journey. They took off only to return awhile later with a cold bottle of water. Once again, new friends. Thursday was a good day for walking, but during the night Jeff became very ill. He was unable to walk on Friday, May 27, and had to see the doctor on that afternoon. The diagnosis was a stomach virus. Please pray for Jeff’s health. As of right now he is very weak and his body needs replenishing. His host family is taking very good care of him and Walker. He is very determined to get back out on the road and continue on.

Until next week,

Sherri Robinson

(Jeff’s other half)

P.S. UPDATE 5-30-05
