UPDATE........Journal Entries???

Dear family, friends, supporters, and fellow walkers,

This journey has become a great adventure for Jeff.  Everyday brings many new happenings and a host of people to meet.  Jeff has been in the Dallas Morning News, The Galveston paper, The Goldthwaite Eagle, The Tyler paper, The Lubbock paper, The Abilene paper, The ACU paper, and also the TV stations in some of these cities.  I'm sure I'm leaving some out, but the point is the "WALK" is getting out and so is the plight of these children.  We want to thank all the wonderful hosts that have put Jeff up for the night and given him and Walker a great place to stay and a meal to eat.

Just a quick update.  Jeff's feet have seemed to clear up as well as the injury to his lower leg.  The weather has been good with only a little drizzle and a little cold.  Abilene and Plainview brought many people out to walk with him and he truly did look like a Forrest Gump.  Several friends and strangers have come to spend a few hours walking.  He gets great pleasure when he has company.  Jeff's free time is spent talking with reporters, preparing for a speaking engagement at a church, spending time with his host family, and answering emails.  Between this he is washing clothes, sleeping, and spending some playtime with Walker.

Walker has continued to improve over the last few weeks.  He was seen by his vet when the two of them were home for Jeff's college graduation.  Walker had a complete physical and blood work done.  Aside from a little weight loss the vet said he was the picture of health.  Walker has also made several friends:  Titan, Cruncher, Kramer, Wylie, and several others.  The only injury Walker has had has been a thorn in one of his pads, but it was fine after it was removed.

I know that all of you have wondered if Jeff was all right because his journal entries have not been posted.  He usually sends them to me, I edit them, and send them to Justin, (the Webmaster),  who posts them on the web.  As you can see his schedule is much more hectic than we thought it would be. And as he told someone, fatigue is his constant companion.  We hope that he can do a weekly update, but that is not a for sure deal.  Please be patient with us and continue to check the web for different info.  I will try to keep things posted as far as the journey.

May 18, 2005:  Jeff and Walker did over 30 miles today and are actually ahead of schedule.  They are in Amarillo for the next four nights and have several speaking gigs.  Continue to pray for both of them for the days are quickly nearing where there are fewer towns at the end of the day's walk.

Thanks so much for all the support and interest everyone has given. Until next time.
